![]() ![]() I do agree on the more casual stuff (though Tomodachi got it's western debut on 3DS) and that kind of fare barely survived on 3DS with the rise of iOS/Android happening in concert. It think your other "core" picks are also pretty arguable (Pokémon) or frankly just wrong (Kirby). While I'd agree with you Mario Kart was better on DS (it might be EPD's best DS title tbh, and up there for best in the series overall imo), I'd also say MKDS and MK7 come orders of magnitude closer than say PH/ST and ALBW/OOT/MM, NSMB/64DS and NSMB2/3DLand or Prime Hunters and Return of Samus. Plus that "etc" is pretty sizable too in reality (Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Picross, DK, Mario Sports, Yoshi, etc).Īlso, not all these are 1:1 differences. Fire Emblem Fates & Echoes were my last hurrahs before I started to transition over to the Switch.Ĭlick to expand.I think relegating it to just "Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc" is sort of self defeating when those are like, Nintendo fans' bread and butter. I did invest in an upgraded New 3DS XL, but was a little bit disappointed about how things fizzled out in 2016-17. It was very encouraging to observe the increasing number of excellent first party games and a very respectable selection of third party JRPGs released from 2013 to 2015. I was spending more time with the 3DS, and the Wii U started to gather dust. ![]() Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was next with its surprisingly robust online system, and then Bravely Default really cemented it for me. I was playing it at home and during my commutes. I was considering selling the system at the start of 2013, I'd bought a Wii U by that point, but a couple of very interesting 3DS games were due for release that year.įire Emblem: Awakenings was the turning point for me. At first I was very disappointed especially with the handheld's teething problems and a very barren library of games for 2011-2012. ![]() I wasn't a Day One purchaser, and I only bought into the system once the initial price cuts kicked in and a couple more titles were added to the lineup. I prefer the 3DS: it had a slicker user experience and the graphical presentation was less taxing on the eye, when compared to its predecessor. ![]()
